Who Smarted? has made a daily trivia podcast for kids since 2020, which means we have watched a lot of questions land and a lot of questions flop. The ones that flop are almost always pitched at the wrong age. So this page does something most trivia lists do not: it tells you which questions suit which age before you start reading them out.

How to Play This List
Four ways families and teachers actually use these, and the setup for each.
- In the car: Pick one topic and read straight down. No scoring, no teams. The Random Fun section works best because nobody needs background knowledge.
- Family game night: Deal 5 questions from each of 4 topics, 20 in total. Split into teams, one point per correct answer, and let the youngest player pick the topics.
- Classroom warm up: Ten questions from one topic, hands up to answer, five minutes flat. Science and Space and Geography map most closely to the curriculum.
- Party or sleepover: Run the Score Keeper below with up to four players and use the harder half of each topic so the older kids stay in it.
Which Questions Suit Which Age
Trivia goes wrong when everyone gets the same question. Use this to pitch it right.
- Ages 4 to 6: The first third of Animals and Food. Stick to questions with a one word answer they can picture. Expect to give hints and count near misses as correct.
- Ages 6 to 8: Animals, Food, and Movies, TV and Characters in full, plus the first half of Geography. This is the sweet spot for the majority of this list.
- Ages 8 to 10: Everything except the hardest few in Science and Space. If you want a list built for exactly this age, we have one at the 8 year olds page linked below.
- Ages 10 to 12: Start at History and Famous People and Science and Space. Add a 10 second timer to keep it competitive.
