Make your own podcast at the Who SMarted? online podcamp
WHO SMARTED? PODCAMP is a super fun, online experience that guides Smartypants through the entire process of creating, recording, editing and posting their VERY OWN PODCAST!
That’s right, the creators of your kids’ favorite podcast are sharing everything they know to help turn your child into a podcaster just like them! Along the way, we’ll help build your child’s confidence, cultivate their creativity, and enhance their communication skills!
Best of all, this is a self-paced course designed for Smartypants and SmartyFamilies to fit into a busy schedule. Everything you need is available online whenever you need it.
But that’s not all — for the first time ever, The Trusty Narrator (aka Jerry) and Chet Nickerson (aka Adam “Tex”) from Who Smarted? will appear on camera teaching all the tricks of the trade they use to create the biggest and best family podcast in the world!
Each easy-to-follow, video lesson is about 5 to 10 minutes long, and designed to hold kids’ interest and keep them engaged without overwhelming them.
In addition to the videos, there are instructive worksheets; a private, moderated, kid-safe FORUM where Trusty and Chet give feedback on their work and answer any questions they have – plus twice-monthly, LIVE video Q&A sessions where your Smartypants can ask Trusty and Chet questions in real time!
By the end of camp, your Smartypants will have created a finished podcast episode they’ll be excited to share. Even more importantly, they will experience what it feels like to turn an idea into something real — just like we did with WHO SMARTED?!
A NOTE FROM TRUSTY:
Hey SmartyParents and SmartyFriends,
After five years of making Who Smarted?, we’re showing the Smartypants (AKA your kids) just how we do it. And we’re giving everyone the tools and knowledge to make their very own podcast! This is the program I wish existed when I was their age. I can’t wait to see (and hear) what you create!
— Jerry K. (aka Trusty Narrator)

TESTIMONIALS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What if my child doesn’t want to be a podcaster?
That’s totally fine. Most kids won’t become podcasters, just like most kids who take art class won’t become artists. The skills they learn — storytelling, communication, organizing ideas, and speaking with confidence — are useful for life.
What age range is this for?
The camp is designed for kids ages 6–11 who enjoy storytelling and want to learn how podcasts are made. Parents may also enjoy participating with their kids.
What equipment does my kid need?
Just:
- a computer, phone, or tablet
- internet access
- a quiet space
Kids can record using the built-in mic on their device and free recording software recommended in the course. Upgraded equipment is optional.
When are the Q&A sessions?
There will be one or two live Q&A sessions every month, on weekends. Kids can submit their questions ANYTIME for help in our moderated forum.
Is the cost per child or household?
The $97 price is per household, so multiple kids can participate.
The live video platform may limit sign-ins to one device at a time, so siblings may need to share a screen.
Will the Trusty Narrator really be on camera?
Trusty is on camera teaching the video modules, and he will be live in the some of the Q&As.
Is there a refund policy?
You may get a full no questions asked refund anytime within the first week after purchase.
Will my child get feedback and support?
Yes.
Kids can:
- ask questions in a private moderated forum
- share their work
- receive feedback from Jerry and Tex
- get help during live Q&A sessions.
What will my child create?
By the end of the program, your child will create a complete podcast episode, including:
- topic selection
- script writing
- recording
- editing
- publishing
They will learn the same storytelling techniques used in Who Smarted?.
What if my child doesn’t finish right away?
No problem. Kids have lifetime access and can complete the camp at any pace. Support remains available through the forum and email.
How is the camp delivered?
All lessons are delivered online through a private learning portal accessible from a computer or tablet. Login details are provided after enrollment.
